Musical
Furnishings
Company
History
|
1996; On a dusty rest stop in South Dakota, MF Founder
Tor Clausen discovered the music within a picnic table when he drummed
the table with his fist. Upon returning home, he set up shop in his sisters
unheated garage to begin building prototypes of sketches he had drawn
on the road trip. In one hot saturday, a few months later, Tor sold all
of his prototypes at a gallery fair in Bellevue Washington. He gathered
his savings and borrowed money to hire an attorney to write a utility
patent protecting the novel idea of Musical Furnishings.
In the subsequent years, Tor has outgrown his sisters
garage, blown 1972 dodge transmission in Idaho delivering product, and
tuned more xylophone keys than you can shake a stick at. The furniture
is getting better too. New designs are being introduced and direct customer
feedback has refined the all the musical offerings. The designs, patents
and production are solidly in place.
